The Texas rule and TAMUCC's disclosure
Under TAMUCC's MSN handbook, Texas is the only place an MSN clinical hour can be earned. Its professional licensure disclosure is a separate statement about whether the FNP curriculum meets other states' education requirements for certification, and it leaves four places as not determined: California, Washington DC, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

Can I study TAMUCC's FNP from another state?
Coursework, yes; clinicals, only in Texas. TAMUCC offers MSN students no rotation outside the state, and each one needs a Texas or compact RN license, so ask TAMUCC's nursing college about your situation first if you live elsewhere.
Does TAMUCC's FNP lead to licensure in my state?
Everywhere but four places, per TAMUCC's disclosure: the FNP curriculum satisfies other states' education rules for certification, and for California, Washington DC, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands TAMUCC has made no determination.
Is the DNP also Texas only?
The DNP handbook sets no Texas-only rule in writing, yet its Nurse Practitioner track asks for a Texas APRN license. Details sit in our guide to DNP practice hours.
