TAMUCC's MSN Student Handbook leaves no flexibility on location: Texas hosts every clinical hour. Online classes work from a Florida home, while each FNP clinical course means stretches of time at a Texas site under a Texas preceptor.

TAMUCC keeps no published list of states it admits online students from. What it does publish is advice for anyone pursuing a licensure program from another state: raise your plans with the College of Nursing and Health Sciences early. Florida has issued multistate RN licenses since 2018, which matters because TAMUCC's catalog lets a compact license with Texas authorization stand in for a Texas one. The handbook instead describes a Texas license, allowing conditional admission if you obtain it within your first semester. Settle which version applies before applying, using the Texas RN license guide as your checklist.
Florida and Texas both sit in AANP's restricted group, though the mechanics differ: some Florida NPs keep a protocol with a physician for their whole career, while Texas NPs prescribe under prescriptive authority agreements.
Florida and graduate programs from other states
Florida's approval law, s. 464.019, addresses schools wishing to teach prelicensure nursing within Florida, and the Board likewise describes its approval job as covering that entry-level tier. No Florida provision turned up that makes out-of-state APRN, graduate or RN-BSN programs apply or give notice before their students train in the state.
For TAMUCC's MSN tracks, that openness changes nothing, because the rotations are in Texas. A DNP student who hopes to complete practice hours in Florida faces few state hurdles, but should still confirm with TAMUCC's DNP Program Coordinator, since the DNP handbook is silent on location and the NP track is built around Texas licensure.
Florida's systems and the TEACH program
Florida's population spreads across several big metros, led by the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach region, with Tampa Bay, greater Orlando and Jacksonville completing the top four. Among the major systems, the University of Florida operates UF Health, AdventHealth keeps its headquarters in the state, and HCA Florida Healthcare, BayCare and Baptist Health South Florida complete the group. In short, TEACH pays facilities rather than preceptors, and only for Florida schools' students, so a TAMUCC rotation sits outside it.

Can a Florida resident do TAMUCC FNP clinicals in Florida?
No. Florida clinics sit outside TAMUCC's Texas-only rule for MSN clinicals, and the FNP has no out-of-state path. A Florida resident completes the full 630 hours with Texas preceptors, traveling in concentrated blocks, while the coursework itself stays online at home.
Does TAMUCC's FNP meet certification requirements in Florida?
Florida is inside the disclosure's coverage. TAMUCC leaves California undetermined for FNP certification education, along with D.C. and two territories, and Florida is on its NC-SARA list too. The licensure disclosure guide explains both lists and how they differ for Florida residents.
Does my Florida multistate license work for TAMUCC admission?
It may. Florida's multistate license, available since 2018, lines up with the catalog's compact option. The handbook, by contrast, asks for a Texas license and allows conditional admission, so settle the rule for your cohort with the program before you apply.
Would TEACH reimburse a Florida clinic that hosted a TAMUCC student?
No. The program counts only students of Florida-based accredited schools, and TAMUCC is a Texas university whose MSN rotations happen in Texas. TEACH also pays the facility, not the preceptor. TAMUCC's preceptors are volunteers, recognized by the university through hours certificates, appreciation letters and awards.
