TAMUCC from Wyoming: two compacts, one Texas clinical rule
Wyoming sits in the RN compact and is one of the few states to have passed the APRN Compact, yet neither changes where TAMUCC's MSN clinicals happen: all of them are in Texas. For a nurse in Cheyenne, Casper or Gillette, that means online study at home and clinical terms in Texas. Here is the full picture, including Wyoming's notice rule for practicums.

Wyoming address, Texas clinical terms
TAMUCC's MSN confines clinical education to Texas, with no out-of-state clinical option, so the coursework can come to Wyoming but the rotations cannot. Texas-only clinicals has TAMUCC's wording.

TAMUCC lists no states it accepts online students from, and it wants anyone considering licensure study away from their home state to talk with TAMUCC's College of Nursing and Health Sciences beforehand.
Two compacts, one of them still waiting
Wyoming's multistate RN license dates to January 19, 2018. Make Wyoming your declared home, hold that multistate license, and you can work in Texas, which meets TAMUCC's MSN admission option for a compact license authorized there. TAMUCC's wording is on the license page.
Wyoming's version of the APRN Compact sits in Title 33, Chapter 21 of its statutes, and it shares that status with just four states. The compact switches on once seven states sign, so it grants no multistate NP privilege yet, and Texas APRN licenses remain single-state. That is why the DNP Nurse Practitioner track still asks for a Texas APRN license.
Full practice in Wyoming, delegation in Texas
AANP rates Wyoming full practice. Your TAMUCC rotations happen in a restricted state instead: Texas NPs work under a delegating physician through a prescriptive authority agreement, keep written protocols for their entire careers, and can write Schedule II prescriptions only in hospital facility settings or for hospice patients. Wyoming's notice rule, if a DNP practicum points home
TAMUCC's DNP publishes no Texas-only sentence, so the first step for any Wyoming practicum is the DNP program's own approval, including the Letter of Support and community facilitator it expects. If that goes ahead, Wyoming's board sets three conditions in its Chapter 6 rules for post-licensure programs:
- AuthorizationThe school needs a Wyoming Department of Education registration or NC-SARA approval. TAMUCC's state authorization page includes Wyoming among its SARA states.
- Written noticeThe program writes to the Board before a student's Wyoming clinical experience starts, and the Board offers a template cover letter for that purpose.
- Facility contractBefore day one, the clinical facility and the program put their arrangement in a signed written contract, and the Board can see a copy the program retains.

Cheyenne, Casper and Gillette: Wyoming's care map
Cheyenne and Casper are Wyoming's two largest metros, and Gillette follows as a micropolitan area; each held fewer than 105,000 residents in the 2025 Census estimates. Banner Health, an Arizona system, runs Banner Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, and Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie carries a UCHealth affiliation. Other large names are Campbell County Health in Gillette, Sheridan Memorial Hospital and Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. They describe the landscape, not TAMUCC sites, and official sources list no Wyoming preceptor incentive.

Questions TAMUCC students ask
Can I complete TAMUCC FNP clinicals in Wyoming?
Texas only, for the MSN. Its four FNP clinical courses, 630 hours, happen at sites TAMUCC's clinical faculty clear, mostly on weekdays and inside each 16-week term. You can take the online coursework in Wyoming, then plan on living in Texas for each rotation.
Can Wyoming's APRN Compact carry my NP license into Texas?
Not yet. Wyoming is one of five states that have enacted it, and it takes effect only after seven do. A Texas APRN license remains separate and single-state, and that is the reason TAMUCC's DNP Nurse Practitioner track requires one. The RN compact, by contrast, is already active in both states.
Would TAMUCC need Wyoming Board approval for DNP hours in Wyoming?
Wyoming's Chapter 6 rules spare post-licensure programs from Board approval, but expect a letter to the Board and a facility contract before any clinical day. The bigger question is TAMUCC's own: TAMUCC's DNP Chair must sign off on each practice experience, backed by a support letter from the host organization.
Does a TAMUCC FNP count toward NP licensure in Wyoming?
Wyoming is not one of the four jurisdictions TAMUCC's disclosure leaves undetermined, which are Puerto Rico, DC, California and the U.S. Virgin Islands, so its MSN satisfies the FNP certification education standard here. Read the licensure disclosure before you apply.
