Corpus Christi Preceptor is an independent placement service for Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi nursing students. We search for Texas preceptors and clinical sites that fit your TAMUCC course, prepare what TAMUCC's paperwork asks for, and stay with you until your hours are logged.

Why a service for one university
A placement is only as good as its fit with the school's rules, and TAMUCC's rules are specific. Graduate students there find their own sites and preceptors, every MSN clinical hour is earned in Texas, each site must hold an affiliation agreement, and each preceptor completes a new packet every semester. A generic search that ignores those details produces names TAMUCC cannot use, and a student loses weeks finding that out.
So everything we do is shaped around TAMUCC's own sequence: Typhon's Clinical Site Directory, the "Initiate Affiliation Agreement" form, the Preceptor Agreement Packet, CastleBranch, and clearance from your clinical faculty. This site uses TAMUCC's terms because our placement advisors work with them every day, and a student should never have to translate between our language and the university's.

Traditional and eLine BSN students have their clinicals assigned by TAMUCC in the Corpus Christi area, so our work centers on the graduate programs where the search belongs to the student. How we work
Every search follows the same standard, whatever the program:
- Course fit first: the preceptor's specialty and caseload match the rotation, whether that means children's care for
NURS 5644, women's health forNURS 5645or a teaching practicum - Texas and in person: sites close to where you live, reachable for weekday clinic days
- Checked against TAMUCC's standard: license, board certification and years of independent practice confirmed before a name reaches you
- Paperwork ready: a CV, license and certification for each preceptor, along with the site's agreement status and who signs for it, gathered for TAMUCC's forms
- On call: if a preceptor withdraws mid-semester, the replacement search starts right away

Where we search
TAMUCC's online graduate students live all over Texas, and our search covers the same ground: the Coastal Bend around TAMUCC's island campus, the Rio Grande Valley and Laredo, San Antonio and the Hill Country, Houston and the Gulf Coast, Austin and Central Texas, and Dallas-Fort Worth.
Each region has its own health systems and intake rules, from University Health in San Antonio, which lists TAMUCC among its affiliated schools, to Houston Methodist's dedicated NP request deadlines. Our regional guides start at home, with the Coastal Bend around Corpus Christi, and every metro guide explains how local systems take NP students. For students in smaller towns, we look along the routes you already drive, so a clinic day fits around work and family.
Where our information comes from
Every TAMUCC fact on this site comes from TAMUCC's own documents and official pages: the FNP Student Clinical Guide and FNP Preceptor Guide, the MSN and DNP Student Handbooks, the 2026-27 catalog, the academic calendar and the program pages on tamucc.edu. Texas practice rules come from the Texas Board of Nursing, and health-system details come from each system's own student pages.
Where TAMUCC's sources disagree, we say so and name them. Leadership in Nursing Systems field hours appear as 180 in the catalog and 225 in the MSN handbook, for example, and the drug screen shows up as both five-panel and ten-panel. In those cases we point you to the source that decides for your cohort, and each page shows the date it was last reviewed.
Working with us
Most students start with the form on any page, sharing their TAMUCC program, Texas city and the semester of their next clinical course. A placement advisor replies with preceptor and site options that fit, and our cost page explains what shapes a quote. From there, the same advisor stays with you through the agreement check, the packet and your clinical faculty's clearance.

Which TAMUCC programs do you help with?
Every TAMUCC graduate nursing program with precepted or field hours: the MSN Family Nurse Practitioner, the FNP Post-Master's Certificate, both DNP tracks, the MSN Nurse Educator and the MSN Leadership in Nursing Systems. RN-MSN and RN-Bridge students plan ahead with us as well, while BSN clinicals are assigned by TAMUCC.
Can you find preceptors outside Texas for TAMUCC students?
TAMUCC's MSN handbook confines clinical education and training to Texas, so our MSN and FNP searches are Texas searches. The DNP handbook has no matching Texas-only sentence, although the NP track requires a Texas APRN license, so DNP students should confirm site locations with their DNP chair.
Who will I work with on my placement?
A placement advisor on our placement desk handles your search from the first message to a cleared start, and stays your contact if a preceptor ever needs replacing. At TAMUCC, you still deal directly with your clinical faculty, the FNP Clinical Coordinator and your graduate advisor.
Who gives the final approval for a placement?
TAMUCC does. Your clinical faculty member approves the site and preceptor and clears you to begin, and no hours count before that clearance. We prepare each placement so the review goes smoothly, with credentials and agreement details laid out the way TAMUCC's forms ask for them.
How current is the information on this site?
Each page carries the date it was last reviewed and lists the TAMUCC documents behind it with links. TAMUCC revises its guides and handbooks, and the MSN handbook changed for students admitted from Fall 2026, so check the edition that applies to your cohort.
